Michael's Mission

Donation protected
On October 18, 2012 the world lost an amazing man. He was my cousin, Mike. Michael John Schaefer was tragically killed by a cab driver in the prime of his life. He was a police officer for the Chicago Water Reclamation Department, a lifeguard, and a security guard at Wrigley Field during the Cubs season. As you can see, Michael's life revolved around helping and protecting other people. This has been a devastating loss for all of us, especially his mother Meg who lost not only her son but her best friend. Michael often spoke about his years at Loyola Academy. He said they were the best four years of his life. Mike wanted others to experience the same education and values that helped mold his life and that ultimately formed him into the great man he came to be.
To that end, we are asking for your help. Please help us to keep Michael's generous spirit alive by making a donation to the Michael Schaefer '96 Memorial Scholarship at Loyola Academy. 100% of the proceeds will provide a deserving young man or woman with the same wonderful education Michael always felt so lucky to have had. Raising this money means so much to our entire family. It is a way we can keep Mike alive and continue his mission of helping others.
