Can you please help Michelle’s life after sepsis?

On Saturday 16th January my beautiful sister Michelle was admitted to hospital after suffering flu like symptoms for a few days. She was in extreme pain and her lips, nose and fingers had turned blue. This had now become a race against time.
She was suffering from severe Sepsis after being bitten by the family dog on the 14th. It was just a nick  so she thought nothing of it. In just 48 hours she had gone from perfectly healthy to being at deaths door.

Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body causing inflammation and essentially cutting off the blood supply.

Now at the mercy of hospital staff, Michelle’s organs began to shut down and she was placed on life support and pumped with antibiotics.
Little did we know how close to death she was. I had barely heard of sepsis, now i wish i knew the warning signs.

At this point in time she’s been 2 weeks in intensive care fighting for her life, her kidneys are still not working but her liver is improving.

Sadly, Michelle has suffered damage to her hands due to lack of blood and oxygen to them. Thankfully her lips and nose recovered. We were informed that possibly all her fingers will need to be amputated. She will be devastated.

Michelle was such a busy person, always helping others, it’s a worry to think how she will cope at the prospect of losing her fingers, but with a strong positive family we’re hoping she'll regain her lust for life and flourish with her new hands. She’s also a single mother to four children.

This is why I would like to raise money for my Sister. To help aid her rehabilitation, pay for adaptations needed around the home and eventually for the prosthetics she will so desperately need.

It will be a very long road to recovery, but I’m optimistic she can fight this and bloom to full health.

I would be most grateful for any donation you could give. I shall also be donating to UK Sepsis Trust and Derriford Hospital for the wonderful care they have given to my dear sister.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Michelle a full and speedy recovery.
Think sepsis, save lives.
