Dallas's Cancer Fund

About two weeks ago our dog, Dallas, had a few episodes of nausea/vomiting and we brought him to our vet. At this appointment the vet discovered a large swollen lympnode that she biopsied - Dallas has lymphoma.

As most of you know, I'm a survivor of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In fact, we got Dallas after my transplant when I was just coming off my "year out of public" ban and my doctor ok'd getting a puppy. He brought SO much joy to our lives after such a traumatic ordeal with my own health. He's the sweetest, most lovable dog you'll ever meet - and he's only 6. Next month is his birthday.

This diagnosis is beyond devastating for us. We struggle to pay for my medical and dental costs which continue to be significant. Last night we brought Dallas to Tuft's Emergency Room after speaking to Oncology and that being their suggestion for getting him assessed quickly since his liver enzymes are elevated.  He did very well overnight and we were given several options today. Option 1 is CHOP chemotherapy, ironically the same protocol I was on. It almost feels like a cruel joke. The total cost of CHOP is about $4,000 if there are no complications. We simply can't afford it.  The next option is an oral chemotherapy drug but the prognosis isn't great. The last option is to just do one of the drugs in the CHOP protocol. He would get an infusion every 2-3 weeks for a total of 5-6 infusions. The cost of this treatment, assuming no complications, is about $1,500-2,000.

While we can not afford this treatment, I can not sit by and watch my dog die at age 6.  I can't have children. He's my child. Dallas begins treatment tomorrow as his lymphoma is advanced and time is critical and at this point we have no choice but to use a credit card and commit our summer to taking care of him.

Some have reached out and asked what they could do to help. If you know me, you know I never ask anyone for anything so this is really difficult for me but really need financial help with Dallas's treatment.  Any donation is appreciated more than words can possibly express. We are very hopeful - he's eating, drinking, playing and otherwise strong, healthy and YOUNG.  Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have a pet, I hope they have a long, healthy life ahead of them. They are truly family and loved more than words can express.
