Cazzy’s Corner Grill Staff Support

Donation protected
On Sunday January 24th 2021, Alexis Clayton, server, and Rob Goebel, General Manager, were setting up for another work day at Cazzy's Corner Grill in West Knoxville. There were around 20 or so staff members on site. An ex-employee initiated an altercation that would forever change the lives of those present. By 10:30am, police had been dispatched to the restaurant with reports of a shooting that took Alex's life on the scene and Rob's at UT Medical Center. The shooter then took his own life in a nearby parking lot.
The employees present will be working through their trauma and grief for years to come. The employees not present will share that burden as they mourn two beloved coworkers and friends, coming to grips with their new realities. Cazzy's is planning on reopening in the near future and according to Aaron, Rob's second in command, they house around 40 employees that are currently out of work.
For a restaurant that provides so much for so many in the area, my hope is to come together in support of the hardworking staff as they work through their grief and momentary loss of income. In today's era of social distancing, it is not feasible to gather in large crowds to rally support, but I believe this is a much needed and appreciated alternative. I did ask Aaron and other staff members how the community can help, suggesting monetary donations to bridge this temporary financial gap. The donations  will not bring Alex and Rob back, but they can ease one of the many burdens the employees are shouldering at this time. The plan is to divide the support equally amongst 40 employees, so I am setting the goal as high as possible. Please feel free to donate ANY amount and share on social media so that we can make a real impact for these members of our community.
