For Mariam

Dear all,

Our colleague and friend in Burkina Faso, Mariam Seynou, was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm last week. She urgently needs an angiography and embolization. After several medical consults, we learned that these procedures are not available in Burkina Faso.

Mariam is a medical doctor, mother of two children and is working as head of the pediatry in Nouna District Hospital as well as in the Nouna Health Research Center. You might remember her, as she spent time in Heidelberg for her doctoral work.

Mariam needs our support. Access to medical treatment will require a flight, surgery and a hospital stay in another country. Mariam has health insurance, but it does not cover the costs of care outside of Burkina Faso. She and her family are urgently weighing their options. The last estimated cost for this for the medical and surgical treatment here, in Heidelberg, is 15,000€.  

We would like to support Mariam and her family in this difficult moment and are asking you to make any contribution you can! We have set up a crowdfunding mechanism in an attempt to raise funds so that we might save her life.
