Girl Scout Gold Award

Donation protected
My name is Emily Gonnering. I’m currently a senior at Oconto Falls High School and an Ambassador Girl Scout from Troop 4312. I am seeking funds to help build a Dog Park in Oconto Falls for my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn, and a few requirements for the project include that it benefits the community and that it is sustainable. I will fulfill these requirements by strategically placing this Dog Park in town so it is readily available to those of the city at all times. My intentions are for it to be a great spot for dogs to get some exercise for years and years to come.

The park will have two sections: one for large dogs, and one for smaller dogs. The fence will have two, double gated, entrances so there is no contact between larger and smaller breeds. This ensures that there will be no unwanted negative interferences. Other than that, the park will be AT YOUR OWN RISK for all who enter. The park will have signs stating the rules that all users must follow.

Dog owners must always stay in control of their dogs making sure they are not hindering the enjoyment or wellbeing of other dogs. All wild or aggressive dogs must be removed from the park immediately by their owners. A maximum of three dogs per dog handler are allowed in the park at one time.

Dogs must have a collar or harness with all registered license and vaccination tags present before entering the park. Dogs must be leashed upon entering and exiting the park.

People using the park will be required to remove all waste their dog has produced immediately.

There will be an area where plastic bags will be available for dog owners to use when needed. Citizens are encouraged to donate their used plastic bags for the park.

I will put in benches and picnic tables for some seating. If necessary, I will put in some shade trees to break up the heat as well. I am a pretty creative person, so all of the benches and picnic tables will have some sort of unique touch to make this park a little more enjoyable. I also plan to put in urination stations such as, pee poles or fire hydrants so the dogs can relieve themselves in style.

All rules and important information will be posted on a kiosk located at the entrance of the park. The kiosk will also include a bulletin board for the community to post dog related items and announcements.

The budget for this project is $25,100.00. Fencing is the majority of the cost with the remainder going to signage, tables and benches.  Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
