Melanie's medical procedure

This beautiful kitten was born with a congenital birth defect called Pectus excavation.  She was living in a kill shelter when lifeline rescue took her and her mom and sister.  She is being lovingly fostered by the Siragusa family in Cranford and they adore her.  
This is a malformation of the sternum which causes narrowing of chest and compressing of the heart and lungs.  Melanie is already struggling to breathe like a normal kitten.  Time is not on her side as she needs a lifesaving medical procedure soon to save her life.  This birth defect can be repaired by a surgical procedure that places sutures around the affected sternabrae and then attaches to a fiberglass chest cast.....this acts like a corset and slowly brings her sternum forward as it should be.  This allows her heart and lungs have the room they need to function properly. If Melanie doesn't have this procedure, she will die.  She must have this done at a young age ( 8 weeks old) because her bones are young and soft and can be moved easily.  If she gets this done, her prognosis is excellent for a healthy life.  Please help this little angel, any donation will help save her life!  Please find it in your heart to help this little angel.....she doesn't have a lot of time!
