29 mile walk for Sam “Sponge” Fisher

Donation protected
Alreyt Bod (as Sam would greet you)

I am walking the 29 miles from Sandy lane home of Worksop Town FC and arriving at Ashby Avenue the home of Lincoln United FC for their fixture on 13th November to raise money to repatriate a friend of ours body from Sydney, Australia to Worksop. England.

Recently we lost Sam “Sponge” Fisher he unfortunately passed away through tragic circumstances on the 16th October 2021. The “29” miles represents each year Sam was amongst us.

Sam, Sponge, Mr Fisher as he was referred to amongst everyone was a cheeky, loveable character with a heart of gold. His passions were teaching, music, football and fashion.

The reason I’m walking to attend the Worksop Town game in Lincoln is that as friends we supported different teams such as Wednesday, Sheffield United, Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, but we would all come together to support The Tigers, our home town club down at at Sandy Lane.

On the outside Sam had a lust for life but unfortunately suffered mental health issues which had a major effect on his health and well-being.

My aim is to raise as much money as possible to cover repatriation, funeral costs, travel expenses and for his family’s arrangements.
