Belgian draft vulnerable to ship for slaughter

This senior Belgian mare finds herself in the same exact situation our last draft mule was in. She has served a lifetime as a work horse. She is now old (20 years), blind in one eye and her feet need a lot of work. She has a golf ball sized lump on her neck that will need to be evaluated by the vet.  She has reached the chapter in her life where she is considered disposable. These pictures were taken when it was still summer. She was thin back then and from what I'm told she has lost even more body mass. This girl needs our help! They don't want her as an expense anymore since she's not working. This girl could make an excellent companion or used for light riding. She deserves a chance at a retired life she can enjoy! You can look at these pictures and see she doesn't deserve to face the long trip to Mexico only to be slaughtered under such inhumane and horrific practices. She is viewed as an unnecessary mouth to feed and she's getting skinnier. She has life left in her!  She will be up for meat buyers to bid on her by Monday.  We would really like to intercept her before she's thrown in with all the other sick horses. We would be honored to have the opportunity to offer her another chance at finding a life filled with love. We would love to give her that at Max Meadows Equine Rescue.
