Updated: Pending Homelessness due to Medical Bills

Update:   The fantastic social services department at the hospital have found Cindi a nursing home placement in Los Angeles.  They have also managed to have her MediCal share of cost eliminated.  She still has the outstanding balance but she is not in danger of homelessness.  The local nursing home facilities were all owned by the same corporation and therefore they wouldn't place her locally.  The nursing home in LA has agreed to accept her for care.  Thank you everyone who donated.  I've sent individual message to the donors about the disposition of funds.  We are so very grateful.  

My aunt, Cindi Dowler, is currently hospitalized in Arcata California.  She is a wheelchair bound, double amputee with a non healing wound.  She has an outstanding bill at a local nursing home.  She requires a skilled nursing facility but none will take her for placement with the outstanding bill.  Her total income is under $1000 a month and sadly, she has been the victim of elder financial abuse by a family member.  She is due to be discharged from the hospital within a week to 10 days.  If she cannot clear that debt, she won't have anywhere to go.   If her debt can be cleared, the hospital is trying to find a placement for her in Southern California, nearer to family.  Please help in any way you can.
