Help reunite our family

Hi, I’m Micah and I am reaching out for help with attorney and court fees for a visitation/custody case for my two daughters, Samadhi and Sophia. Let me begin by telling you a little bit about myself. I am an OEF/OIF US Navy Veteran. I served as a Master-at-Arms from 2001-2005. I am a devoted mother to four incredible children. My two daughters and two sons, ages 24 & 22. I am currently studying to become a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach and I am actively and passionately involved in the recovery community. I have been a single mother for many years and I was raising my daughters on my own because their father was absent. Because of unaddressed trauma that I experienced both in and out of the military I had developed an addiction to drugs. In 2014 I reached out to my father for help. I was struggling on my own and had just escaped an abusive relationship. My father took my daughters to live with him in Southern California. During this time, I had been absent because of my choices and my father reached out to my daughters’ father for help. He went and picked them up from my father in California and moved them to Texas to live with his family. He filed for full custody and a protective order against me. In January 2018 I made a decision that would change my life. I had been praying for God to help me. I would do anything to have my daughters and my family in my life again. I knew it was time to surrender. God showed me that my story was not over. That I had much to offer this world and I could have joy and fulfillment. I called my Dad and asked him if he would take me to check in at a local recovery home for Veterans. That call saved my life. I entered treatment on January 19, 2018. Shortly after I surrendered my life and my will to God. I was set free from the bondage of addiction. I spent almost a year in the recovery program through the VA. Today I have almost 3 years free from addiction. I have worked incredibly hard to get to where I am today. I am thankful that my daughters are with their father and have had the opportunity to nurture their relationship. But, I am ready to fight to have them back in our lives in whatever capacity is in my daughters’ best interest. I was able to hire an attorney almost a year ago and we began the proceedings. We filed a petition for visitation, but their father was not agreeable. Our next step is mediation and possibly a court hearing. No price is too much for me to pay to have my daughters back in my life. Due to COVID-19 my daughters’ father has been out of work and I am responsible for covering all fees for both parties. So far, I have paid thousands towards attorney fees. Going forward the cost will be many more thousands of dollars. The pace of this process is moving faster than my ability to earn/save for. After much prayer and reflection I have decided to create this fundraiser. This has been difficult for me because I have worked so hard up to this point but I am now at a place where I can no longer do this on my own. I am reaching out to this community in hopes that we can do together, what I am not able to do on my own. Please consider supporting this effort. Any amount helps. I, and my girls will be forever grateful for this effort. Thank you so much and God Bless you all.
