Medical Mission in Tanzania

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, & Supporters,

Every year a neurosurgeon and neuro-anesthesiologist from Cornell go to Mwanza, Tanzania on a medical mission to perform life-altering operations for those with limited access to healthcare and to educate local medical professionals.  As a second-year anesthesiology resident at Cornell, I had the good fortunate to be chosen to accompany Dr. Roger Hartl and Dr. David Kopman on this medical mission.  This trip is organized by Madaktari Africa, a charitable foundation that promotes the development of specialty medical care and training throughout Tanzania.  To further information on this organization, please visit their website: http://madaktari.org/.

This June, we will be going to Mwanza, Tanzania for one week.  During our time in Mwanza, we will perform various operations, mostly involving the spine, and give educational lectures to the local medical professionals.  Having previously done medical research in both Botswana and Uganda, I am very excited to return to Africa to use my clinical skills for a charitable purpose.

Unfortunately, there is no funding available through Madaktari Africa or Weill Cornell-New York Presbyterian.  Thus, I am raising this money to cover the cost of my plane tickets, visa, and housing.  Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated.  My estimated cost is around $4000, but any additional money that is raised that I do not need will be donated to Madaktari Africa.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Warmest regards,
Sheida
