70th Birthday Fund for a special bed & back-brace

Hello family and friends of David. We (his children) would really like to buy Dad a new bed and mattress as he can no longer get out of bed easily in the morning - one of those remote-controlled ones that lifts the back up for you. He spends quite a lot of time in his bed reading, listening to the radio etc, and at the moment he does this propped up on pillows and often ends up sinking off to one side and not able to get himself up without help. After some research we’ve seen that the cheapest possible option for a double is around £800, but £1000 (or more) would help us find the right one. And if we manage to raise more than this then so much the better! The other thing is he needs a new back brace; the one he previously bought (which cost him £1500) no longer fits as he’s lost a lot of weight and has changed shape (in the right direction thank god) but he definitely still needs the support of the brace for his day-to-day life. We spoke to a few family members a while ago and there was mention that people would like to help with things like this. So we are opening this up to anyone who feels they can put some money his way to cover these costs. It would be amazing for a 70th birthday gift (coming up on Feb 26th) to be able to tell him that we’ve all clubbed together to help. Thank you so much everyone.
