86 Years of Life - Epifania Rodríguez

Donation protected
My grams passed away, Monday December 21st of this ungrateful year. At 02:05 am my grandmother took her last breath and that was it. No more Abuelita Epi, no more Mama Olga, no more I love you. Just goodbye. Just like that. My grams passed away and I know everyone says it hurts and that it gets better but I guess I’ve never truly lost anyone that has been this close to my family and I and yes I’ve lost friends down the road but never family; it’s never been family that was this close to my heart. An annoying little old lady who, as I grew up I got to hear her rude “pepito” stories. An annoying old lady who I fought with more than my own mother because we always had different ideals and yet somehow that always brought us closer at the end. A sweet, kind, rude, mean lady who at the end of it all still asked my momma when I wasn’t home at a certain hour, “y el gordo? Donde esta el nene?”. (English translation->) “Where’s the fatty? Where’s my baby?” Now I know I should have started this fundraiser from the moment that she passed because that’s when I truly found out how empty my pocket is but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it because it meant i had to admit my grandmother was dead. It meant having to face with the reality of it all but most importantly it meant having to ask for strangers for money but these funerals; it’s a surprise they don’t charge you for saying her name because they charge you for the funeral by saying they charge you by the service; the tombstone, the memorial service, the amount of people, for the digging of the hole where my grandmother is meant to go, etc. If I wrote the entirety of the list it could be a book. My grandmother was 86 years old and born in the year 1934, in the 7th day in the month of April. Funny story is that her name comes from her being born in April. She gave birth to a handful of children but to this day four of them remain. As it is we are doing everything we can to raise the funds for my grandmother’s funeral but as it is it may not be enough and they only gave us a week to come up with the money. If for any reason you would like to hear more about my grandmother, stories, feel free to ask me or my family, we would love to share them with you all. Any amount will help and if you are not able to donate any money please do not feel bad as it is not your responsibility to give money but if I can ask of you to please help share this GoFundMe story and please express to others how they can help you will be helping a lot. I thank you all for listening to our story and for learning her name, EPIFANIA RODRIGUEZ of GUATEMALA. May god bless you in any way and I truly hope this pain never reaches anyone else even if just the financial pain. Thank you all and I wish you all the best. #Iloveyoumamaolga #epifaniadeguatemala
