Medical Mission Trip To Haiti
Donation protected
My name is Annabella, and I am raising money for a service trip to Cap Haitien, Haiti. This trip is both a civilian relief trip as well as a medical needs one. I am personally one of the youngest participants, as well as one of few who are not already doctors and/or nurses. We will be spending our time doing surgeries, providing for the community, and just trying to make the area a better place in any way we can.
Each person in our group ' donates' $2,000 to Friends of Good Samaritan -tax exempt. The money will pay for airfare, hotel, food , transportation etc. it also pays for medical supplies that we need shipped down ahead (IV fluid, catheters, dressing supplies, sterile equip etc). We carry a lot of supplies with us too. And 'gifts' for the children we see and meet and patients. The gifts are old clothes and shoes etc that we can bring as well as matchbox cars and hair ribbons, dolls , penny candy etc for the kids. Anything more than that I will be Donating directly to the people of Cap Haitien. I will try thrift shop shopping for children's clothes, toys, toothbrushes, face cloths, pencils and notepads, etc etc and ship down to FOGS Florida address to ship over. We get the Med supplies we need for the week. The rest is to help the community. Everyone needs things like a hat down there.
Also, money will go to the hospital to pay for schooling and uniforms and daycare for six foster children. These are kids that have been abandoned as babies in the waiting room of the children's clinic. The hospital houses and feeds them and hires ladies to look after them and the staff of the hospital is their extended family. We are like visiting cousins.
Unfortunately, the timeline for this campaign is quite short. I need the funds by the end of June 2016, which is not quite as much time as I would have liked. However, this trip is one that I am so passionate in, so I truly hope that the time constraint does not turn people away. I would be forever indebted to anyone who chooses to contribute. Anything helps; in a situation like the one these people are in, even the smallest bit of aid can go a long way. Thank you all so, so much.
Blessings,
Annabella
