The loss of baby Liam.

On Friday December 18th, my sister and her fiancé went through the loss of her their baby boy, Liam. Samantha was around 20 weeks pregnant when doctors discovered Liam had a rare heart defect. The valves in Liams heart weren’t formed correctly and therefore that would cause many complications that doctors didn’t know how or if they could fix. Fast forward to about 36 weeks gestation, Samantha went in to labor with Liam and doctors were able to discover more now that he was born. At this time, they thought it would be best to prepare Liam for heart surgery. Unfortunately, with each week that went by Liam wasn’t making any progress and the surgery wasn’t able to be performed with the condition he was in. Those weeks were devastating as we didn’t know what exactly was wrong with Liam. We knew he had the heart defect, but he was struggling far more than just that. Each day was different. One day it would be that he might have a brain bleed and then the next would be that he may have blood clots in his liver. We just couldn’t get the answer we needed on what was wrong...until we did. That day, Friday December 18, 2020 was the last day we would ever see Liam. Doctors finally discovered that he was having liver failure and gave us a matter of days. Sadly, it only ended up being a matter of hours. Liam passed away at 11:45 am in his mother’s arms and went into the arms of Jesus. I’m asking more than anything for prayers for our family and most importantly the parents as we fight to get through this difficult time.
