Our “King Louie”

Hello all, Firstly thank you for taking the time to read about this campaign... This is only a small one, but I want to tell you a little bit first about Louie. Louie was diagnosed at 4 months old with a disease called “Menkes” Menkes syndrome is a disorder that affects copper levels in the body. It is characterised by sparse, kinky hair: failure is to gain weight and grow at the expected rate and deterioration of the nervous system. Unfortunately there is no cure for Menkes Disease at this time, which means it’s very life limiting. To give Louie the best possible life, he has been given special equipment for day to day use, and has had many gifts of sensory toys to help stimulate him, which is very important for him right now. As you can imagine, the costs of these things are very very expensive, which is sad as it’s what these poor children need to help with their life. Louie was given a chair last week called a pea pod!! It’s amazing!! He can now sit up unaided and interact. Look around at things he couldn’t before. But again he needs stimulating, So my aim is to raise some money to be able to purchase him a frame that is designed to go around his pea pod chair and his family can attach sensory toys too.
