March A Cross Canada - Our Final Stand For Canada

My name is Warren Michael Parke, I am known as ‘The Old Man’, you can find my page on facebook. I am taking a Stand For Canada with my Actions… because Actions Speak Louder Than Words.
I had come to the end of my rope when I was working on a First Nations Reserve which had no drinkable water. I couldn’t even brush my teeth without buying a bottle of water. This got me thinking.... How many times has our government promised something to the vulnerable in our country and failed us?
91 First Nations Reserves were without drinkable water in 2018. In 2020, after many empty promises..... 91 First Nations Reserves still don’t have drinkable water.
And that’s just one issue....
Our government has failed Veterans over and over and over and over. PM Justin Trudeau said “Veterans are asking for more than we are able to give right now”. I believe.... Veterans ARE NOT asking for more than WE can give... how about you?
My late Grandfather, Private Victor Edward Parke was a member of the Armed Forces with the Royal Regiment of Canada, in which he served for many years. Private Parke was also a life member, including holding a term as President, for The Royal Canadian Legion in Beausejour, Manitoba. In memory of him, I have been inspired to honour him and ALLother Veterans who have served our Country (I do not hold this honour myself).
In doing so, I have chosen to carry an 80 lb 9 ft Cross, across Canada to raise awareness for these government failings and many more.
In a perfect world, WE would be able to fix all of the failures of our government TOGETHER.
Other failures I’ve noticed are Mental Health Services, Autism Help and Awareness and Cancer Assistance/Research.
I’ve chosen Veterans and First Nations Water because those are no-brainers to me! But for me personally, I’ve seen the decay of mental health during and even before Covid when friends and family reached out for help and didn’t receive any for 8 months to a year, while struggling mentally each and every day. Myself and my children, along with another member of my family, are all on the Autism spectrum, so that is very near to my experience as I just recently learned of my own diagnosis. And cancer? Well seriously just ‘cause... Fu$k Cancer.

I started this journey myself, without any idea of what I was doing.... I just knew that I had to TAKE ACTION. I will accept any and all suggestions for this endeavor... because WE, THE PEOPLE, CAN DO THIS OURSELVES!
100% of the gofundme donations raised are being distributed to the following charities and causes:
1) The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary and Hoggin Alberta Veterans Ranch
(including cancer portion & part of the mental health potions as the charity provides both mental health & medical assistance)
2) Autism Okanagan Association
3) Ucluelet First Nation, B.C. (currently under a ‘DO NOT Consume’ Water Advisory first issued in May 20, 2014) – purchase (including the delivery/shipping) of bottled water
The distribution of donations to these noted charities/causes, will be presented and documented on ‘The Old Man’ facebook page.
