Christa Burton Surgery Fund

Christa Burton will have no quality of life until she has a Bilateral Lumbar Laminectomy. The doctors impress the urgency, SHE COULD LOSE THE USE OF HER LEFT LEG!!! The muscles are atrophied and she is already using a cane most of the time :( Her back, hips and left leg are in chronic debilitating pain. She has acute herniations and severe stenosis. L2, 3, 4 and 5 are involved. The doctor has told her the longer she goes without surgery,it is less likely she will regain full use of the left leg. (there is severe damage to the nerves that are being crushed).

Christa is a devoted mother to her son Avery and daughter Valeska, and a grown daughter in California,Sarah, whom she is very proud of, and who are as full of love and light as their mom. She is a talented jewelry designer, and last August invested to become a consultant for Rodan and Fields Skincare. She is trying to help herself, but it is hard to do business from bed! And, she can not sit upright for any length of time to make jewelry. She has no medical insurance,(although she has applied multiple times since her divorce and been denied each time), and there are no Government programs to help her. She has already applied to several different agencies and been denied,(medicaid is just one ).

Just a year ago she was active - bike riding, going to her kids soccer games, the gym, making jewelry, doing charity events, modeling, cooking, gardening..etc. It is getting harder every day now for her to walk and she is in bed most of the time in agonizing pain.
I have only known her to go out of the house once or twice a week for the past 2 months, and she's become reliant on someone to drive her. Christa is a vibrant, fun, and glamorous, sweet sweet soul!! It has been heartbreaking to watch her infectious spark slowly, and now rapidly, being extinguished. I can't fathom how scared she must be!

Ask your church, ask your neighbors, forego one visit to the salon or a couple of cocktails, or anything extra you could give up this week, just please let's do this! The cost of the surgery and hospitalization (at the reduced/non-insured's rate) will be around $50,000. She emphasizes that until the surgery is covered, no money will be spent on her other medical bills - she just wants her life back!!
If everyone who knows her or is in this fascinating community of Facebook gave just $10 - $20, and those who can, gave more we can achieve this goal of doing just that!
