Public Health in South Africa
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Nastassja and I'm a premedical student in my Junior year at University of California, San Diego. This summer I have an amazing opportunity to go abroad to South Africa in order to learn about public health and spend my time in service to others. Though South Africa is a very developed country, it still has an extremely high level of inequality and poverty.
I am raising money to pay for the cost of my plane ticket, housing and meals while I will be abroad, so that I can make this trip happen and create positive change where it is very much needed. I fly out in just one month. I will be volunteering in health clinics and townships in and around Cape Town to help with issues such as HIV/AIDS and the spread of disease in poor, crowded areas. This trip means so much to me because it is my dream to spend my life in service to others, acting as an advocate for human rights and helping to alleviate healthcare inequality.
I've been working hard to gather the funds for this trip and have been able to meet half of the program's cost through scholarships and savings, but I still have a way to go. No donation is too small. Everything helps and I am so gratfeul to everyone who is helping my cause to benefit the lives of those who need it most. Even a like and a share on Facebook helps me spread awareness of global health issues, and the healthcare inequality that continues to affect the lives of people all over the world, including the most needy amongst us in the United States.
