Lexi Hanson

Hello Everyone, As some of you may or may not know Lexi had been having issues with stomach pains since the beginning of summer 2020. She had been in multiple times never to really find anything out other then the doctor thinking she had a dairy allergy. So she went ahead and cut out all dairy but still proceeded to have stomach pains. They brought her in again where they then decided to send her in for and Endoscopy where everything turned out good! The following day they set her up for an ultrasound where the ultrasound Tech noticed something rather concerning. They got in contact with her doctor the next day after he had a chance to read her ultrasound results followed by a CT scan where the family was then informed that Lexi has a tumor in her abdomen that measured 10.9 X 10.6 X 10.5 cm (grapefruit size). From there, the were set up with an appointment the very next day at Children's hospital for them to discuss what needs to happen next. She then had a PET scan on Dec. 11th where they confirmed that it was cancerous. Today Dec. 14th she was scheduled to have the tumor removed and anything else cancerous. Unfortunately, when they arrived to Children's Hospital, they referred  the tumor  as very angry. If they were to remove the tumor today that they more then likely would of had to of removed her ovaries and uterus. So instead of doing so they took a sample of the the 2liters of fluid that they removed and 2 implants to send for results in hopes to find out what kind of cancer it may be. They then can determine the next best route without having to remove either of her reproductive organs as of now. She is out of surgery and sleeping in her hospital room with Mom and Dad. She also had a port placed for when she will start Chemo. The tumor has grown in the last 2 weeks according to the surgeon and Oncologist. Possibilities at this point are Germ Cell Tumor or a rare case of Ovarian Cancer in a teen.
