Hello! I'm Charlie. In the photo I am the one on the left holding drumsticks. I am 62 years old and have worked in the aerospace/defense industry for 35 years.
Over the past ten years I've been aware that my kidney function was sub-par, but far from life threatening. Last year, in 2015, my kidney function fell off a cliff, going from 40% to 15%. My health was on a drastic downhill slide. Fortunately, my medical professionals intervened in time and I am now on nightly Peritoneal Dialysis. I look back on how I felt six months ago and can now recognize just how sick I was.
I've never tried a resource like this before and am unaccustomed to asking for help.
These funds would be utilized to cover expenses over and above what my insurance will cover. I look forward to retiring and enjoying my newfound health.
We’re all aware of the progress that's been made in the world of transplant surgery, but few people recognize how many people are in need. As of today, 6/6/16 there are over 120,000 individuals in need of organ transplants, 77,000 of which are currently on active wait-list, with over 10,000 transplants performed so far in 2016 from 5,000 donors. A bit staggering in sheer volume and wait times can vary from months to many, many years.
As I stated previously, overall I'm better off than some, so if you opt not to support me, please support someone, AND sign-up to become an organ donor.
I beat cancer in 2009 and I intend to beat this too!
