Alli's Smile Fund

Donation protected
Many of you know from personal experience how much love, joy, and companionship our pets bring into our lives.  For 10 years, Alli has brought all that and so much more into the lives of Cathy and Cay.  Now in her senior years, Alli has shown very few signs of slowing down.  She loves life just as much as ever!

But a large soft tissue mass that has grown in her mouth is threatening to change all that.  She needs special surgery to remove it or treatments to help shrink it.  Right now, it’s just preventing her from digging in the yard, eating hard food and bones, and playing with her beloved stuffed opossum.  But if not removed, it will continue to grow, and in just a few weeks, the mass will become so large that Alli will not be able to eat anymore.

Diagnosed with cancer because a lung x-ray showed 3 nodules, a biopsy was taken of her lymph nodes.  Turns out, no cancer was detected.  At the very least, she’ll need a surgical biopsy to determine a course of treatment if they elect not to do the surgery.

Cathy and Cay are reaching out for your help.  Since losing her job last summer, Cathy has been trying to make ends meet by substitute teaching.  It has been a difficult struggle. Due to her Master’s program, Cay’s financial burdens are many.  The heartbreaking reality is that it is not financially feasible for either Cathy or Cay to provide Alli with any of these options.  They are asking you to consider making a donation to Alli’s Smile Fund so they can consider these options for Alli.

The decision to go forward with this surgery will not made lightly.  There is much to consider.  Unfortunately, there is no hope to cure Alli in this late stage of cancer. In light of that, neither Cathy nor Cay would do anything that would not benefit Alli in the end. Doing anything to prolong her life that sacrifices quality will not be considered. Her quality of life is always foremost in their hearts and minds.  Consulting with the oncologist and surgeon at Central Veterinary Hospital, getting a 2nd surgical opinion, heeding their expertise and advice, and weighing the pros and cons of these procedures will be thoroughly examined.

You are all aware of the fact that Alli is the light of Cathy’s life.  She is Cathy’s companion, burglar alarm, gardening buddy, and often times, her comic relief.  Although Alli is known as Cathy’s dog, she is very much Cay’s dog as well.  They share a love and a bond that is truly special. They would be grateful for any contribution that could be made.  They are asking you to think about it, pray on it, and talk it over with loved ones,  they will be forever grateful.  Love and light to all.
