Paying Tribute to Don Colley

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our beloved Don Colley left our world suddenly on Sunday, December 6, 2020.  Don leaves behind so many friends and family including the love of his life, Kim and a son he was so proud of and loved dearly, Jake.

Don was born on July 9th, 1960 and grew up in Eagle Mountain, California and Tenino, Washington.  He leaves 3 brothers, Ron, Eric and Rob and 2 doting parents, Dorothy and Mike Colley. From a very young age, Don was the life of the party and as most know, had an undeniable zest for life, a killer smile with piercing blue eyes and a contagious and unforgettable laugh that lit up any room he entered.

We know so many people are hurting and dealing with loss this year.  2020 has been brutal in so many ways for countless families around the world.  Losing Don has been a painful shock and again reminded us how important it is to connect with and love one another while we can.

Donations for this fundraiser will be used to pay for funeral/memorial costs.  Any remaining funds will be given to Don’s wife and son to help them cover any additional costs and provide relief as they maneuver through this very difficult time.  Please only donate if you can. Most importantly, share a story about Don in the comments, we would love to hear all of the beautiful memories and moments you had with him.

We would like to share a piece of writing by Hallie Shepherd (Don’s sister in-law).  Her words meant so much to us; we hope it can provide others with some hope and light during tough times and when the world is dealing with so much loss
Please take care and love one another.

XOXO The Colley family

There is no such thing as a perfect goodbye

Saying goodbye is not one conversation
Nor is it a single monumental moment

Goodbye is that conversation you had two years ago
It’s the laugh you shared when you were kids
It’s the birthday hug where you squeezed extra hard

It’s every single time you ever connected with love
For a lifetime, not a last time

Those life moments add up to your real goodbye,
Complex and lovely and messy and far from perfect

So when your heart feels regret, and you say, oh, I wish!
I ask that you please remember this:

The last time you said goodbye is not the most important
It’s all the times you said goodbye that really matter

- by Hallie Shepherd, in loving memory of Don Colley
