Isiah's Vision

Donation protected
Meet Isiah, an honor student and athlete, a son and little brother and a sufferer of a degenerative eye disease called Keratoconus.

Keratoconus is a condition that misshapes the cornea and, in most cases, is not correctable with glasses. Interventions include specialized contact lenses and corneal implants. In some severe cases, like Isiah’s, the need for corneal cross-linking or corneal transplantation are the only treatments that will prevent degeneration to the point of near blindness. Isiah’s condition is deteriorating so rapidly that doctors fear without surgery, in just a few short years, he will have little hope of reading a book or driving a car or someday watching his children grow up.

He developed a love for wrestling in his youth and was named State Champion and New England Runner-Up. Some of his wrestling successes followed him to high school, where he broke the All-Time Wins record and became the youngest Western Massachusetts champion for his high school.

He hopes to get surgery for his Keratoconus after he graduates in June and before attending Springfield Tech where he received athletic and academic scholarships. He intends on following his years at Springfield Tech by heading to law school.
The impact of keratoconus on Isiah’s daily life is enormous. Being unable to see without his glasses makes it tough for him to work, study, play or even exercise. The idea that his vision is failing to the point where glasses and contacts will soon be rendered useless is a reality he faces daily. Yet somehow he manages to maintain a quirky sense of humor and his infallible upbeat attitude.

Corneal cross-linking and corneal transplants are very successful treatments proven to reverse the degenerative effects of Keratoconus, but unfortunately, Isiah’s insurance company will not cover these procedures, any additional surgeries or specialized corrective lenses he will need afterward. As you can imagine, these procedures are very expensive therefore we are asking for your support.

Please help us save Isiah’s vision by donating any amount you are comfortable with and by sharing Isiah’s story. Your donations and prayers are much needed and are sincerely appreciated.
