The Streets Film Themselves - Cairo

Donation protected
This is a call out to anyone interested in helping a group of street kids in Cairo learn film production skills and have their voices heard.  The project will be run by Egyptian filmmaker Hossam Meneai who studied cinematography in Cairo and has done work for numerous international broadcasting companies (https://www.linkedin.com/in/hossammeneai).  The goal of this project is to provide an opportunity for 10-15 teenaged youth to learn film production skills by interviewing eachother about their dreams and their lives living on the streets in Cairo.

The money for this project will be used to cover the rental of some basic equipment and the costs associated with producing a film made by the students.  Hossam is also hoping to provide food, transportation and incidentals for the students while working on the project.

The equipment required will include the following:

Camera

Tripod

Lenses

Microphones

Lights

Music

Editing equipment and software

The project is expected to last 6 weeks and encourage the participants to speak openly about their lives and inspire them to pursue their dreams.  The final project will be subtitled in English and posted online once completed.  It will also be screened at the French Institute in Cairo and the Goethe Institute in Cairo.  These screenings will be open for family, friends and supporters so the students can showcase their work.

Any help with funding this project will be greatly appreciated!

Due to the way GoFundMe is set up, all funds are listed in CAD (Canadian dollars) and will be processed in CAD.
