Help Arlo get the treatment he needs

Donation protected
Hi everyone, Thursday morning our beloved horse who is only 2 years old was not himself he was down in the field in the rain which is unlike him. We got him up and he took a few strides forward and collapsed. We managed to get him up and walk him to get him to the stables with his head low to the ground grinding his teeth and showing typical signs of colic We took Arlo into the stable and monitored him for a few hours and we noticed his wee was brown and smelly and he couldn’t poo. We called the vet out who confirmed that arlo was not himself and was exhibiting signs of colic. They administered buscopan, steroids, penicillin and did an anal examination to check his poo, the vet dragged out a poo just sat there fermenting he wasn’t even trying to get it out. The vets wanted to take bloods to check he wasn’t fighting an infection and warned us of peritonitis. Arlo seemed to perk up after this and we were confident! Later that night he took a turn for the worst and we believed we were about to loose him but vet repeated what was done previously. It seemed every time he was getting the medication he was fine but when they wore off he was only getting worse. Bloods came back all other profiles fine but his liver was in the thousands which is ridiculously high and advised which they said might happen originally that he needs to go to the equine hospital as his chances of survival at home are very slim as he has liver failure and sand colic. Having already racked up a bill with the vets for the two days they had been out we now had to find more money for the deposit. Arlo is currently in the equine hospital and has had more tests and scans. He’s throwing out a lot of sand in his poo so the vets have him on psyllium as he is passing loads of sand. They also have him on a strict diet with added magnesium sulphate for liver support. All other parameters are fine they can’t tell us yet why his liver parameters are abnormal but they are keeping him on this diet and re running bloods to see if there’s a change. He will need a biopsy of his liver to find out the problem and then we go from there. He is currently costing £30 a day livery for being at the hospital and they are treating him like his own! The whites of his eyes are yellow and he is grinding his teeth an awful lot! We are asking for help towards his vet bills he is our baby and my partners first horse who means everything to her from the moment she saw him as a wild unhandled foal she has built an amazing bond with him and to see him like this is heart breaking and to nearly loose him is even worse! We want to try everything possible to get him better even if he’s forever a companion! We are seeing him daily so we will post updates daily and proof of bills etc he will also if he does get through this need continued care after the equine hospital with our own vet. I’m asking for the invoices of what he has currently had tomorrow to post on here also. The reason for the amount we would like to raise is because we don’t know how much it’s fully going to cost but it’s a rough estimate with the after care and liver biopsy and livery fees whilst he is in the hospital. We Thankyou for taking your time to read our story and we hope you would consider helping even if it’s not a lot to us that means everything to us and we hope if you ever needed help that we would do the same for you. Again Thankyou for reading our story and questions please contact me
