<div>We all know Hannah. And if you don't, you'd be glad to. She is a strong asset to our community in many ways, notably working as mental health therapist with youth on our reservation. She helps them to realize their worth and potential through and beyond their trauma. She values her work and is also a devoted single mother to her teenage daughter Nellie.

<div>Recently Hannah was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, this following an emotional past several months where Hannah was one of the end-of-life caregivers to her eternal best friend who also had cancer. Hannah then suffered another heartbreak when her precious first cat became afflicted with cancer and had to be put to sleep. Now Hannah is fighting her own fight with this disease.

<div>Hannah is thankfully receiving treatment at the Mayo. She has to travel to and from northern Minnesota to receive this needed care. Hannah is currently unable to work and has not been approved for short-term disability as of yet, so we are seeking assistance for her to continue to receive the care the Mayo provides. She will be receiving medication shortly followed by surgery in a couple months and then followed by radiation where she will have to stay down near the Mayo.

<div>After that it will be determined if more treatment is necessary. Hopefully not, but as it is, that is a lot to contend with. All the travel to and from while being unable to work is quickly incurring a lot of expense. Hannah just purchased her first home for her and her daughter last year as well, so financial stress is a burden we would like to avoid for her while she focuses on getting well.
