Those who know Susan Michaud would describe her as one of the most kind, generous, funny and optimistic people you could ever meet. Susan has been fighting a courageous battle with cancer since 2009.
Recently diagnosed as 'terminal' with a squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, Susan's doctors have informed her that they will not perform surgery and will not be doing radiation on the tumour and will only continue with chemotherapy "until she can't take it any longer".
Susan is NOT willing to 'give up'.
Recently, Susan was introduced to the Cleveland Clinic and AutoLITT.
"AutoLITT uses a minimally invasive, MRI-guided laser system to coagulate, or heat and kill, brain tumors. The procedure is conducted in an MRI machine, enabling surgeons to plan, steer and see in real-time the device, the heat map of the area treated by the laser and the tumor tissue that has been coagulated. The technology may make it possible for surgeons to neutralize cancerous tumors that are currently too risky or otherwise impractical to treat surgically."
The people who know and love Susan are coming together to raise funds to build a trust so that if Susan should qualify for the AutoLITT Surgery, money will not be the thing that stands in the way of her LIFE. Should she not qualify, the funds raised will help to support Susan and her family as they continue to fight this tremendous battle.
