Brian Krinke

As many of you now know, Brian was a pedestrian hit by a car.  He is on staff at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction as Instructor of Music- Upper Strings. Brian's health insurance is good, and we are so thankful! If you feel inclined to help monetarily support Brian in his recovery, donations are appreciated. Brian was on his way Friday evening, November 20th to do some recording at the University.  He was going to be playing piano so did not have his violin with him.  He was a pedestrian crossing the street in a crosswalk that had blinking lights across 4 lanes of traffic.  It was in the 4th lane that someone hit him.  The driver was travelling at a calculated speed below 30 mph when he struck Brian.  Brian’s head impacted the passenger side windshield and then he was thrown 46 feet onto the sidewalk (information based on Grand Junction Police Department Report).   He was taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.  At that time the information given was that he sustained a skull fracture, multiple facial fractures and a brain bleed.  He needed immediate surgery to repair facial lacerations but was unable to consent to surgery on his own.  The doctors reached out to Amelia (Brian’s 16 year old daughter) and she referred them to Lambert and Jean (Brian’s parents).  The driver remained on the scene and his vehicle has been impounded.  He will be charged.  One of his colleagues saw a person being loaded into the ambulance.  He then dialed Brians phone and heard it ringing nearby.  Brian was overdue for a recording session and it was then that his colleague realized Brian was the one being loaded into the ambulance.    Lambert was able to fly to Colorado on Saturday, Nov 21st and was able to spend the day by Brian’s bedside in the ICU all of Sunday, Nov 22nd. Colorado banned all hospital visitations as of Monday, November 23rd due to  COVID restrictions.   Lambert was nearby when the breathing tube was removed as well as learning that Brian would be moving out of the ICU to a Neurological Unit in the hospital. Although this time is so tragic and unknown, we look to the blessings that we are given.  Brian is alive (truly a miracle) and has some ability to speak and is breathing on his own.  Many things are unknown but what is known is that he is surrounded in spirit by love, kindness, and prayer by his daughters, family, colleagues and fellow musicians from coast to coast.  Thank you for the outpour of support.  Please continue to pray for Brian, Amelia, Meredith and his family as well as his medical team at St Mary’s Hospital.  God is good!
