Becky's "Cancer Sucks" Campaign

Becky's a mom, a wife, a grandma, a friend--and a fighter. She battled stage 2 breast cancer 3 years ago but just received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her liver.  That first fight-- the rounds of chemo, the double mastectomy, the recovery, the PSTD--drained her and husband Michael's financial resources and they had to sell their home to move into a small apartment in Portland, Ore. Adding to this already difficult situation, Becky was just informed by her employer that she can no longer drive a city bus given her health status. This leaves them relying on the sales of Mike's art and a few weeks of sick pay coming her way until the funds run out -- and she hasn't even started the treatments for this second battle. Or receiving the bills that will follow. As we all know, even with insurance, the copays and uncovered expenses can be unsurmountable.

Liver cancer is especially nasty and difficult to treat.  And no one should have to worry about paying the rent and putting food on the table while undergoing such an ordeal.

None of us has to look far to find a friend or loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer. It can happen to any one of us at any time.  

We look around and see so much ugliness in this world right now. Yet daily I see acts that truly show the kindness that resides in each of us.
