Me and my dear friend Willy started a nonprofit organization last year to build housing for feral cats throughout Louisville.
When I moved here there was a mother cat who had a litter of 8 kittens behind my apartment complex. As it got colder out I attempted to draw the mother and kittens into my apartment but they since they were feral, they would scatter at any attempt.
I studied different ways to build outside housing specifically for feral cat colonies and built two for the mother and her kittens.
Two days later I went to check on the houses to see if they were using them and to my surprise there were about 12 cats, including the mother cat and her kittens sharing the houses. I then reached out to another nonprofit organization that spays and nueters ferals humanly to advise them of the houses and all the cats inside so that they could help take care of the growing population of cats in Louisville.
This year, as it started to get colder out I posted on an app called Nextdoor which asked those in my community if they knew of any feral cats in their area in need of housing.
To my shock, the post blew up with responses, requests, and a ton of support.
However, I had been paying for the housing materials completely out of pocket, and with the influx of requests I am reaching out to GoFundMe for additional assistance.
I'm currently building the houses and am already getting low on supplies, not to mention I now have to rent a Uhaul to deliver all the houses.
I am in the process of making a website, Instagram, and Facebook to show all the progress that your donations will help with. I'll also post pictures on here as the houses are made, delivered, and used so you can see your donation was for an amazing cause.
Thank you so much for all of your support, its genuinely appreciated.
