Got scammed out of $1750 selling MacBook on eBay

Hello all, I am aware I may sound quite stupid in this situation, but here goes... I have limited experience selling items on eBay, and I trust people too easily sometimes so please hear me out. A few weeks ago, I purchased a new MacBook, thinking that I would probably need it in the near future and it would be important since I use it for teaching all day. At the time I bought this, I thought I was about to receive my tax return that has been super delayed due to COVID, so that’s why I thought I could afford it. It then was disclosed to me that I won’t be receiving my tax return within any reliable timeframe. Could be months, years, who knows. IRS is about to shut down again. Because of expecting this tax refund and then having it fall through, I realized money was too tight to afford this laptop right now, so I posted it on eBay. A man in Houston, Texas purchased the laptop, asking me to use usps for a faster delivery, and telling me that when he submitted his payment he would include the shipping cost as well, but that he wanted to email me through my PayPal email address. Since I wanted to sell the laptop quickly, I didn’t notice anything sketchy going on. But in retrospect... The man sent me emails from PayPal that turned out to be completely fake, stating that I had to provide tracking info that they had to confirm before his payment could be processed to my account. Several days later, he sent another fake email that said since I am a new eBay seller, the money would be held for an additional 21 days. After contacting eBay, these emails were certainly fake. But I already mailed the laptop to this asshole in Houston, Texas since I thought I had to provide shipping info before getting my payment... Now that jackass has a brand new, never opened, 2020 MacBook Pro, and I have heartburn. While I realize this could be considered super idiotic of me, I have been very busy and couldn’t think through the fact that of all the people in the world, the person I was selling my laptop to was a criminal mastermind. Now I am stressed as fuck.
