Pitch: The Adventures of Danger Rabbit

I'm an author, a new author, and for a while now, I've worked to have my titles grow in popularity. I've gone to several different publishing agencies, and each of them has had nothing but good to say about my book, Pitch The Adventures of Danger Rabbit. The problem is, none of them were traditional publishers. You see, I've gotten myself caught in a catch 22 situation.

Traditional publishers usually want Authors with name recognition or success and popularity already. Or, in other words, I can't get published until I've been published. That's why I've turned my attention to vanity publishers, but they are costly. They aren't my first choice, but they would at least get my book in stores, marketing, and grow my brand enough to eventually traditional publish.

Pitch The Adventures of Danger Rabbit is a character-driven modern fantasy. Unlike most fantasy books, Pitch isn't about fighting a world-ending evil. It's a grounded story that uses magic in a matter of fact kind of way. People don't make stupid decisions...unless they're stupid, and things don't happen for the sake of prolonging the story. There are themes of sexuality, codependency, depression, and wealth inequality. But it's all wrapped up in a narrative that's both childishly funny and, at times, more sophisticated than it probably has a right to be.

I go back and read over my book sometimes, and at times, I almost can't believe I wrote it. I had one publishing company review my book, and their words were, "you wrote this for teenagers, but I'm a 50-year-old woman catching myself in tears." And I don't say that to boast. I say it because I have to; otherwise, no one would know.

This book is like my baby, and I desperately want it to have the legs to walk. I just need the money. I work a full-time job, I'm still in school, and I hardly had the time to write any of my books. I would love to do things the old-fashioned way and get everything done myself, but I'm afraid if I don't ask for help, I'll never get anywhere.
