Saving Lilly.....
Lilly is a tiny 9 week old yorkie puppy that was surrendered to a veterinarian to be euthanized. She was found to have a severe heart murmur. The breeder left her behind, because to a breeder, Lilly was worthless. To rescuers, no life is worthless. After seeing her sweet little face, there was no way I could just let her die. Is it going to be easy I thought? No. Is it going to be difficult? Yes. I searched the Internet. I spoke with other rescuers that had to deal with similar situations. I just wanted to know if Lilly has a chance to thrive and be a happy, healthy puppy. The answer is, YES.
The plan is this.... Lilly will be evaluated by a cardiologist. The initial consultation is $130 for the doctor and $600-$800 for diagnostic testing. After this, we will know the additional cost of surgery. The estimate that I was given is $5,000-$8,000.
We are desperately trying to do all that we can to save her life. If by some chance Lilly does not survive long enough for surgery, donations will be returned. Backyard Breeders & Puppy-Mills don't care about the animals. To them, Lilly was just meant to make them money. When the veterinarian found her murmur, the breeder signed her over to be put to sleep. Lilly has a problem that surgery can correct. The greedy breeder tossed her away.
