On November 5th, 2020 I was hit by a car while riding my my bike two blocks from home. After contacting local businesses, and the police, and detective on my case, I still can’t find the driver. It was a hit and run.
I was crossing LaSalle on Erie Street (heading Eastbound in Chicago) when a silver Ford Focus, in the far right turning lane, blew the light, going at least twice the speed limit and hit me, didn’t even slow down less yet stop to see if I was alive. They proceeded East on Huron, the wrong way on a one way street, then north on Dearborn.
Next thing I know I sat up in front of Fogo de Chao Restaurant Drenched in blood with over two dozen people looking at me, trying to help, taking videos, pics etc. The EMS report states “no witnesses”.
I don’t have health insurance at the moment, I lost that shortly after my job in April, bad timing I guess but I was severely injured.
I have a fractured hip and pelvis, two large deep lacerations on my head, multiple fractures and breaks to both ankles, feet, and toes. I had surgery in the ER and need to have another + physical therapy. Since leaving the hospital I have had complications with my injuries and been to Urgent Care and back to the ER. I almost lost my life, so grateful to be alive.
I wanted the person that did this to be identified, They didn’t even care to stop or find out if I was ok. I recently given up on my search for the driver and trying to focus on my health.
I currently have over $15,000 in medical bills from the hospital and I need to get more medical attention.
I have been having neurological problems and complications from my injuries lately. I also need to go back for another surgery and physical therapy.
My unemployment barely pays my rent and I am behind on paying several months. I cannot physically get around much and acquired so much debt I can barely afford groceries or to get my dogs vaccinated and veterinary care they need.
