Saving Jasper

Hello friends! My name is Sabrina Johnson and I am currently a college student pursuing a nursing degree! About 3 months ago I had the wonderful opportunity to rescue two adorable 3 week old kittens who are now known as Jasper and Jayden! Jasper and Jayden are lively kittens that love to cause trouble and then cuddle up after a long day of play. They have brought so much joy to my life. When I first took Jasper and Jayden to the vet it was found that they were both suffering from severe infections of round worm and URI’s. I also received the anxiety-inducing news that Jasper, who was already severely underweight had tested positive for FIV or feline immunodeficiency virus, which is the essentially the feline version of HIV. Cats who suffer from FIV have trouble fighting off common feline infections that would normally be easily treated such as UTI’s, URI’s and parasitic infections. In Jaspers case, this is highly concerning because of his struggle to gain weight. Since learning that Jasper is FIV positive I have taken extreme precautions when caring for him including that he is kept in a safe and clean indoor environment and is fed health promoting kitten foods. Despite my attempts in ensuring that Jasper is kept a happy and healthy kitten he has unfortunately fallen extremely ill, suffering from what is suspected as a common bacterial infection. Because Jasper is FIV positive and is still extremely underweight for his age, the infection is taking a huge toll on his overall health leaving his body temperature extremely low and threatening his life. After contacting multiple veterinarians and explaining Jaspers situation I have been told that there is not much I can do for my sweet angel except for put him down since it is likely that he will continue to get sick and will be unable to fight off infections properly. This was a solution and I was simply not willing to accept. Thankfully I have found a fantastic animal hospital that is willing to work with me in ensuring that Jasper is properly cared for and is kept safe and healthy. As a college student it has been difficult to keep up with Jaspers medical bills. I have been trying to pick up more shifts at my current job as a waitress but with the current COVID pandemic tips have been low. I am asking for help from anyone that can afford to give it in these hard times in order to ensure that Jasper is properly treated and cared for. I am hoping to raise enough money to cover Jaspers medical expenses so I can focus on giving him the love, care and beautiful life he deserves. I understand that this journey will not be easy, but I am willing to put in the work and time that Jasper needs to be a healthy and happy kitten! Thank you for your donations.
