Ms Kristy's Medical & Recovery Fund

On May 23rd Ms. Kristy got out of bed to get ready for work and collapsed, having lost the use of her legs.  When she was in the Emergency Room, they told her that she had an infected spinal cord abscess and performed emergency spinal surgery on her.  As of this time, Ms. Kristy is regaining feeling in her legs, but still cannot move them.  The doctors say she will be on an antibotic drip for the next 6 weeks.  It is also unclear when or even if she'll fully regain her ability to walk, but she will be in rehabilitation for a while.  Ms. Kristy's spirit is very strong and as she put it on the phone with Ms. Sarah this morning, "you know me, I need to be with my kids in my classroom!"

We want to help Ms. Kristy offset her expenses as she goes through the healing and rehabilitation process.  She will be incurring medical & rehab expenses, rent & utilities, as well as day-to-day living expenses for an indefinite period of time.

Ms. Kristy came to Future Stars 12 years ago and has been a huge part of building our school from the ground up.  She has also been one of the first people in so many kids' lives to instill the idea that learning is not just important, but FUN.  Ms. Kristy has given so many of our kids encouragement, tought them resilience, made them laugh, given them a feeling of safety in an otherwise turbulent home, and most important given them lots and lots of love.  We want to be there for her in this difficult time.
