For Greg

Greg Snoddy is a loving husband, a devoted father, and was the beloved manager of Higher Ground in Toronto, Canada. On August 27th 2020, his life was turned upside down.

Greg underwent extensive heart surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital. He was wheeled to the Cardiac ICU, and hopeful for a successful recovery, when he began to experience a massive brain bleed. This bleed led to a catastrophic stroke, which has left Greg in a life altering state. He was completely paralyzed on his left side, developed cognitive impairment, and sustained significant memory loss.

Greg’s plans for his future and life slipped away in an instant. The man everyone could always count on was now fighting for his life.

This devastating tragedy would be made worse by COVID. Greg’s family, including his son, daughter, and his closest friends were not able to safely see Greg while he was in ICU. His wife, Wendy, was the sole person granted regular visiting access, a small mercy for the family. She was by his bedside every day, as the weeks rolled by. After three weeks working with doctors, nurses, and therapists in the hospital, Greg was moved to Bridgepoint Rehabilitation Centre to begin his long road to true recovery.

The full extent of Greg's disabilities is not yet clear. He continues to fight each day, working to prove the doctors and specialists wrong; however, his short-term memory loss, problem-solving skills, and all things cognitive have been another roadblock in his recovery.

Wendy had to leave her full-time job to be by Greg’s side through these trials and tribulations. She travels daily from their home north of Toronto, to the hospital downtown, in order to spend the day with Greg and help him with his recovery. Since that fateful day in August, Wendy faces the financial demands of a very fragile, uncertain tomorrow and the lengthy rehabilitation her husband will need. Greg hopes desperately to be able to work and support his family again one day, but this reality may be a long road ahead.

The modifications necessary for Greg to return home with his wheelchair, walker, and other essential medical equipment, are leading to massive financial stresses on top of an already devastating situation for the Snoddy family.

At this time, we all want Greg to be able to safely return home. This incredible, outgoing, and fun-loving guy is truly missed by all his friends and family. The path forward is very long and difficult.

Providing financial support to ease the strain on Greg and Wendy would go a long way in this terrible time. Please give what you can, to a man who gives all he can, every day. Every dollar makes Greg’s next step a little easier.

We can not thank you enough for supporting this wonderful man and family.
