Leora and Edson Nascimento, along with their two young children Lily and Levi, have dedicated their lives to serve as missionaries in South Africa under YWAM for many years. Leora was diagnosed with breast cancer over three years ago and has since raged a courageous fight against this illness.
During this time she has been an incredible example of how to fight such a difficult battle with faith, stubborn joy, praise and an inspiring resilience. Her husband Edson has been supporting her with the most selfless love, while also caring for their two young kids.
Sadly, on Saturday, the 24th of October, Leora finished her tireless race and is now Home, singing with her Maker in Heaven.
Edson is now facing his own grief, as well as that of Lily and Levi. On top of that, the final medical bills are rolling in and with it the pressure to pay these bills.
The Nascimento Family Fund was set up to help this young dad in relieving these financial burdens, so he can focus on what is most important right now. Also, due to Covid-19, Leora's family was not able to fly in to say goodbye. Any funds left over after paying all the medical bills will go towards flight expenses, so Edson and the kids can visit both families in Brazil and the Bahamas.
