Gift of Walking

My name is Oleksandr Kyyanytsya. I suffer from cerebral palsy. From the beginning of the war in Ukraine, I wanted to help people who got injuries caused by this horrible war. I got an idea one day, and my team and I began our mission. I am genuinely passionate about hiking; even so, walking is not easy for me. Nevertheless, we are organizing a walkathon from Montreal to Ottawa, where I will participate personally. The reason is to raise funds for four surgical apparatus: Stryker System 8 - Large bone rotatory drill, Stryker System 8 - Cordless driver, Stryker System 8 - SABO Saw and Stryker Medical SmartPump with cuffs for a children's hospital in Kyiv and also for treatment, prostheses, and rehabilitation of wounded children and people due to the Russian invasion.

The walkathon is 200 kilometres long.

The 2022 walkathon helped us to raise more than 21 000. The money served to buy surgical equipment and many other items for Ukrainian hospitals: like an energy stabilizer for a surgical microscope or specific shunts for blessed having their treatment in the Institute of Neurochirurgie in Kyiv.

Je m'appelle Oleksandr Kyyanytsya. Je souffre de la paralysie cérébrale. Dès le début de la guerre en Ukraine, je voulais aider les personnes qui étaient blessés à cause de l’agression russe. J’ai eu une idée, moi et mon équipe avons commencé notre mission. Ma passion, c'est la randonnée. Pourtant, ce n'est pas si facile marcher pour moi. Mon équipe et moi organisons une marche de Montréal à Ottawa afin de récolter des fonds pour soutenir un hôpital #2 à Kyiv (Ukraine) et couvrir des dépenses de traitement, prothèses et réhabilitation des gens blessés pendant l'invasion russe. On veut acheter quatres apparels chirurgicaux pour ce hôpitan #2 pour enfants : Stryker System 8 - Large bone rotatory drill, Stryker System 8 - Cordless driver, Stryker System 8 - SABO Saw and Stryker Medical SmartPump with cuffs. Je parcourrai 200 kilomètres à la marche du 16 au 30 juillet.
