My name is Jan, the author of this post. I am duty-bound to share the merits and frailties of lifelong friend, Jefferson Maughmer. For decades, as an underpaid, dedicated nurse, Jeff has sacrificed, healed and nurtured the aged, informed and social outcasts.
As a single income earner, after many years of retirement, without a monthly pension, Jeff is seeing hard times. The stock market/401k is on a wild COVID-19 roller coaster ride.
To make matters worse,May 31st 2020 in La Mesa, Ca, was the Night of Riots, related to the infamous worldwide viewed homicide of George Floyd. The inflamed tensions lead to the disrespecting of many institution and businesses, along with Union Bank- burned down to the ground. Arsonist on the roof systematically doused gasoline down the venting to the vault. Jeff’s safe deposit box contained precious photos, valuable documents and 32,000$ cash-now only ashes. Unfortunately, cash within safe deposit boxes are not insured by the FDIC.
Thus, Nurse Jeff’s retirement portfolio has see dramatic, diminished funds, by causation outside of his control. I am very worried about Jefferson’s financial situation. He is a senior citizen with ongoing and worsening physical limitations. Hence, attempting to bounce back into the job market has been tenuous. Especially difficult is competing with much younger and stronger blue collar workforce participants.
So let’s make this correct by standing up together for this wonderful American, unified in actions to prevent probable homelessness for Jeff’s future.
