A terrible natural disaster has struck México City for the second time in three weeks and they need our help! After a 7.1 magnitude earthquake, thousands of people have lost their homes and all their belongings. Due to this, many are left without food or shelter.
My name is Olivia Tauson and I am 16 years old. My family just moved to Sweden from Mexico City in March of 2017. It breaks my heart to know that I cannot be there to help in person. Friends, many teachers at my old school and everyone else who lives in the surroundings that have been affected are going through all the aftermath with damages to their homes or no homes at all. Additionally, Mexico is a developing country that already suffers from poverty, which makes it challenging for the people with a low economy to provide themselves with enough resources to survive such trouble.
The only way I am able to help from Sweden right now is to raise as much money as possible in order to contribute to Mexico’s catastrophe. During my years of living in the beautiful country, I have seen all the many amazing things it has to offer. Hearing and seeing the misfortune of so many families in a place that I call home fills my heart with grief and sorrow. I want to give it my absolute best to assist Mexico in returning to how it was before. All donations will go unshortened to help the people of Mexico City rebuild their lives after this terrifying earthquake. I will work with organizations like United Way to make sure that the money is given to the people who need it the most. Any donation counts!
