Hi everyone ,I'm Ayoub, 24 years old, live in Heidelberg and love animals more than anything. In April 2019, I was diagnosed with cancer, to be precise, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (or as I call it voldemort). In the beginning it is a shock ... Everyone who has cancer knows how big the shock is when they are told they have cancer. You know the word cancer, but you still don't know the correct meaning of the word. Sometimes you watch films where someone has cancer (a very nice example is the film "Letters to God") but then you think that this can't happen to you and then it hits you. I always thought that only adults can get cancer, but quite a few children have cancer. In my ward there are mainly a lot of small children, but there are also a few young people. The beginning ... It all started for me at the end of 2018 with a bump on my bottom. Since I had actually injured my buttocks, I didn't think anything else and the doctor also said that it was a bruise that would go away on its own. However, the bump did not go away on its own and so I ended up in the hospital in April, where it was found relatively quickly that it was not a bruise. A lot of examinations were made including an operation because the doctors needed a tissue sample. So it was found out that I had cancer and that I already had many tumors in my body. Why my cancer is called voldemort ... At the beginning, when the doctors and I talked about the cancer and about the further necessary examinations, the doctors didn't know what to call the cancer (since it was not yet clear which it was) and when the doctor was always looking for words in the conversations ... I suggested calling him voldemort. Chemotherapy ... I started chemotherapy in mid-May, about 2 weeks after the diagnosis. Before that I got a Hickman catheter, through which I get the chemo drugs. The doctors told me that you can now only do chemotherapy to stop the tumor and that you cannot cure the disease, only slow it down to extend my life. For me a world has collapsed at this moment. https://www.paypal.me/AyoubEchouqui
