2020 Elite Marathon Project

Nathan Martin was granted entry into the Elite only 2020 Marathon project!!! The race will be held Chandler Arizona on Dec. 20th. There are no spectators due to COVID, but it will be televised! The field consists of 50 invited athletes for both men and women. Many of the top finishers from the US olympic marathon trials will be in the race. Nathan has a PR time of 2:14:33 but is somewhere around 2:11:00 level now. His trials training and race blew up. I pushed him too hard in training and he was aggressive in the race and he blew up. Nate needs a time closer to his new capacity level to gain entry into the elite section of major races like Boston, Chicago etc. This race is designed to go fast. The course is flat and has amazing quality field of athletes. This race could be key in helping Nate clock the needed time to gain entry into future racing opportunities. COVID has been tough on all of us. Nate lost subbing due to schools being shutdown in spring but is now back to subbing and coaching. This race is not sponsored so it has no prize money or assistance for travel or lodging. We are hoping to raise money to help make this race possible for Nathan.
