Helping My Bestfriend Survive

Hello everyone, My name is Leatha Gilbert and for 55 years out of my 70 years of life, I’ve been blessed to share many fond memories with my childhood best friend Linda Correa. This is a woman who has utmost support to me during my darkest times, helping me during my mother’s illness and the death of other family members. This woman who all her life has always worked with people with physical and mental disabilities with compassion. It now pain me to face the fact that she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2019. She immediately was thrust into a disarray of stressful and debilitating medical procedures; including chemotherapy and radiation. These procedures not only cause a physical taxation on the body, but the expenses of travel and medications have caused an even greater mental stress that my friend has never experienced in this capacity. She has become depressed and reclusive, worrying about how she will take care of herself and support herself through this hard time, with her fixed income or how she will get to her treatment appointments without a car (her car transmission gave out, can’t afford to repair or replace it) only her faith has helped keep her grounded and looking forward to better days .I have supported her all that I am able too, along with her family and friends. We now are opening the floor to anyone whom would like to donate and assist this wonderful woman in improving her quality of life in order to purchase a used car (will accept a used car in good running condition) since she travels 102 miles back and forth to her treatment appointments.
