Our brother Abdul Karim Adabi just passed leaving behind a newborn, 8 days old and other children. He was the bread winner like a man should be. His wife, completing her pregnancy, was not working. Now she has to permanently care for the family alone. We are asking for your support during this very difficult time. With Allah’s The Merciful Benefactor, The Merciful Redeemer Obituary of Abdul Karim Adabi On this day Muslims shed a tear for the sudden passing of Imam Abdul Karim Adabi. He was born in Togo, Africa on 1/1/1968. While in Togo he graduated from school with studies in Arabic and Islamic Studies. His love for Islam and by encouragement from his father he came to America. He came to America with the purpose of doing dawah to the American people. The Dawah Association saw great promise in Abdul Karim Adabi. We watched him keep his commitment to this mission for many years. He spoke many languages and used that ability as a translator in the hospitals and for masjid work. He saw the need to create masjid unity among the African community and as a result was the co-founder of the African Dawah Society. To create harmony among the broader community Abdul Karim Adabi was elected and appointed to the executive board and the shura board of Muhammad Islamic Center of Greater Hartford. In this capacity he served as Amir of international relations. In this capacity he also resolved issues among the broader community. This work led him to working with the refugee community within Hartford. He also expanded his outreach for refuges by working with Berlin Masjid and Medina Masjid. He would also work with Catholic Family Charities, and other interfaith groups. Abdul Karim was a big fundraiser for the community. He led programs to obtain our carpet and remodeling program. May Allah reward him each time a person makes Salat in our Masjid. He often coordinated with others our salat process and would serve as back up for Jummah services. Beyond involvement with religious services he served as principal of our weekend school. Abdul Karim Adabi would often offer help where needed but will be remembered and missed most for his Ramadan coordination of meals. He was adamant that we keep our daily iftars. He would also use Ramadan to fundraise for our community. We will deeply miss his support and his love for Islam. His servant leadership will never be forgotten. Abdul karim Adabi leaves behind his wife Mariam Adabi-Nalubanga and first wife Ramatou Arouna. The Adabi Issifou family in Lassa, Togo and Mr Padipalaki Adabi (ASECNA) of Dakar, Senegal.
