Enough Just to Be By His Side

On October 14th Carl Barcellos, my dad, got home from work and changed into his cycling kit. He sat and chatted with me a short while about how pumped he was about his new bike seat, and about his plan to get me some new socks for my birthday. After he had gotten the seat on and adjusted just right he asked if anyone wanted anything at the store, put on his helmet and started off down the hill. Half an hour later the sheriff's department was knocking on the front door telling us that there had been an accident. Dad barely made it half a mile before when something caused him to lose control. Somebody driving found him soon after and called 911. They took him straight to the life flight which flew him directly to Harborview where they operated immediately to remove clots from around his brain and relieve pressure. My father, broken bones from head to toe and suffering from brain damage, which as of yet we dont know how severe. The only thing the doctors can tell us that they're sure of right now is that it's going to be a very long, hard recovery. My Mom and I live a 2 hour drive from the hospital, assuming traffic isn't too bad. We need help. There's no way will be able to maintain the bills that normally need paid and be prepared for every expense that they pile ontop of families already going through such a terrible and traumatic event.
