Socio economico impact of COVID-19 on needy and vulnerable families at FARATO CALIFORNIA The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have reach The Gambia in March 2020. In response to economic and social difficulties due to corona virus in The Gambia the government,UN System and other national and international stakeholders have responded in many ways to ease the burden on vulnerable and needy households. However there are gaps in access 3 square meals in many households as majority of the inhabitants live from hand to mouth. From the assessment we did in the area it was revealed that there are some households members who goes to bed without dinner and wake up without breakfast. In light of the economic hardships in most of the families in the area due to COVID-19,FARATO CALIFORNIA YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION in complementing government efforts, launch a fundraising initiative to help the affected families to cope with the menace of the pandemic. The initiative will be implemented in a form of providing livelihood support to those in need. To that effect the association target 1500 beneficiaries in 150 households and base on the number of beneficiaries each households will receive rice, cooking oil, sugar and cash fees money for 3 consecutive months. No amount is small and together we can help those in hardships during this difficult moment. Below is a picture of a single mother and her kids whos building collapse and need urgent help, she needs a livelihood support. To give a brief overview of the association FARATO CALIFORNIA YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION is a community base organization which was registered in 2019 with the aim to promote high social capital amongst youths and to implement community development amongst others.
