After several years of hard-work and training, I was on the verge of beginning my medical career in Louisiana when I became infected with Covid. After several months of quarantining with continued fever and illness, I was able to transition to my home state of Connecticut with the help and support of a network of loved ones. During this time I continued to experience significant symptoms and was unable to regain my pre-Covid strength and stamina - what we now know is due to post-Covid fatigue.
I am now a "long hauler " seeking appropriate levels of care. Despite the initial support, my housing situation has become unstable and with no income since March, so have many other aspects of my daily life. My Medicaid doctor is not knowledgeable about my condition, nor the appropriate course of treatment. But, there is hope ahead... a fellow physician and friend has offered me the opportunity to continue recuperating with her in Idaho, while receiving care from an additional medical professional that understands my condition and the need for a holistic treatment plan.
In order to access this offer of care and housing, I first need to be able to get to Idaho with my car. This involves clearing the hurdle of securing my car (after months of not being able to make payment and a lender that is unwilling to offer Covid supports), shipping the car to Idaho and enrolling in the care of the new Idaho medical professional.
As such, the following is the breakdown of costs I need by December 7th in order to access the care that will help me return to my passion of caring for others.
Cost to ship car to ID: $1,500
1st good faith car payment + 1st payment for repayment plan: $1,927.50
Fees for three months of initial medical care in ID: $150
While this amount will not cover my full recovery until I am able to begin working again, it will enable me to access the next level of care and stability to ensure I move forward towards that goal.
